Counseling

Nate uses a variety of theoretical orientations when doing counseling, but draws primarily from the AIP (Adaptive Information Processing) model used in EMDR (see below).  Nate enjoys working with individuals, couples, families, and groups.  Prior to receiving his degree in counseling, Nate had spent over 5,000 hours working with kids from ages five through twenty-two in a variety of settings.  The bulk of those hours have been invested in teens.  Nate finds himself connecting well with teens, perhaps due to his feeling young at heart and still remembering clearly what it was like to be a teen himself.  Nate has over 25,000 clinical hours working with clients.

Potential challenges or areas for growth that can be addressed in counseling include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, grief, mood disorders, peer pressure, belonging, relational and family conflict, sexual issues (individual or couple), addiction, abuse, existential issues (meaning, death, isolation, and freedom), and spiritual issues. Nate also does a form of therapy called EMDR (Nate has been trained by the EMDR Institute and is a Certified EMDR Therapist) which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. He uses EMDR for helping clients process trauma and many other issues that currently are causing problems in their lives.  For more information about EMDR, please see the EMDR website at www.emdr.com.

Pertaining to fees, clients can pay privately using Venmo, cash, check, Visa (credit or debit), MasterCard (credit or debit), American Express, or Discover card. Nate does not accept insurance.  Payment is expected at the time of service.
